WASPS INVASION

During late summer, wasps are wherever there’s sweet food and it’s a natural part of their cycle. Earlier, in spring, queen wasps awaken from hibernation and begin constructing their nests, laying eggs, and raising their initial daughters. These worker wasps feed the young larvae, and in return, they produce a sugary liquid that the workers consume. In the summer, once the queen produces new queens and males, her egg-laying ceases. The workers lose access to larval secretions and turn to fruits and sweet human foods. This is when the wasps, at their peak population, tend to become bothersome. As winter arrives, the entire colony perishes, with new queens hibernating until the following year.
